Ernie Stevens Jr - Indian Gaming Association Chairman

Ernie Stevens Jr., the long-serving Chairman of the Indian Gaming Association and a cherished voice for Native communities across the nation, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 66.

For over two decades, Stevens was not just a leader — he was a mentor, a bridge-builder, and a beacon of hope. Under his guidance, tribal gaming became a powerful engine for economic empowerment, while his unwavering commitment to tribal sovereignty and cultural preservation inspired generations. He served 13 terms as Chairman of the Indian Gaming Association.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud citizen of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, Stevens carried his responsibilities with humility, grace, and deep love for his people. His legacy will live on in the institutions he helped build, the lives he touched, and the future he so fiercely believed in.

He will be deeply missed, and forever honored.
